When asked if he ever broke up and got back together with his past girlfriend(s) like the couple on his upcoming drama 'Emergency Couple', Choi Jin Hyuk shared, "Yes, I have. I am the simple type so even if I fight with a friend, I forget why it happened a few days later. That is why if we break up and date again, we can be on good terms like the old days and eventually break up again. I have a few standards. If you don't meet them it would be hard for us to date. The standards are like this. It would be nice if she had good relationships with others, behaves modestly wherever she goes, and is respectful to elders."
Although the actor was all smiles during the photoshoot, he also took a more serious turn as he spoke about some of the hardships he experienced during the interview. The actor recalled a slump in his life, "It was around the time of 'Pasta'. Prior to doing that drama, I had a very bad family issue so I drank a lot. My overall condition was not good. I thought that I should focus on something other than drinking so I started playing online games but it became a total pain. My work was not going well and my contract term with my agency came to an end so I had to do things myself and this and that was not good and difficult."
On who helped him get out of his slump, Choi Jin Hyuk chose his mother, sharing, "Parents. I especially came back to my senses after seeing my mother so sad. That is also my reason for why I lost weight when I was going through a difficult time. I ran on the running machine as I thought about my mother. Whenever it got so difficult that I wanted to stop running, 'I told myself, If you get off here, you won't be able to make anything of yourself."
