Mnet responds to criticisms of being 'half of a real awards show'

Mnet's "2010 Mnet Asia Music Awards" (MAMA) has been drawing criticism lately for being 'half of a real awards show' due to the controversy surrounding SM Entertainment's attendance. A representative from Mnet clarified, "There is nothing official yet." The representative continued, "SM Entertainment has not confirmed their attendance. However, just because their artists are not attending does not give people the right to call our awards ceremony 'half of a real one'. What does that say about all the other artists who are attending? Do they merely make up 'half' of the Korean music industry?" Mnet concluded, "Whether or not they attend, we will be judging fairly.
