On June 23, FNC Entertainment gave an update on ChoA's departure from AOA

After ChoA announced her decision to leave the group through her first SNS post, she became wrapped up in controversial rumors regarding marriage, pregnancy, etc. She then took to a second SNS post to explain herself, stating that her reasons for leaving the group have nothing to do with dating, marriage, or pregnancy, but her mental instability.

In response to ChoA's first SNS post, FNC had first stated that her departure was not confirmed. The label has since told news outlets on June 23, "The label will respect ChoA's wishes to the best of our ability, and will come to a final decision after further discussion [with ChoA]. For the present, we have matters to discuss regarding her desire to leave the group, her schedules from here on, and more, so we will release an official statement after we've come to a settlement. We ask that you please refrain from any more rumors and misunderstandings regarding this situation."

According to her first SNS post, ChoA decided to leave her group and the entertainment industry due to insomnia and depression. Stay tuned for updates.

If it's making her miserable let her go, we don't want to see pitiful slaves singing pop music.

Seem like she wants out but her label don't want to let her go yet.

i_belong_to_yg Friday, June 23, 2017

This is pretty sad. I feel like AOA's vocal line is nothing without ChoA so this might be it for them. but I also want to respect her choices and wish her the best.

Oh my gosh, I wonder what her plans are now that she's leaving.  She's such a capable girl, very inspiring for me.

therefleks78 Friday, June 23, 2017

She found a sugar daddy and no longer has to sell herself to the fans.

qnaug therefleks78 Friday, June 23, 2017

FNC is such a douchebag agency for putting out a statement before confirming with ChoA...

rickkelly Friday, June 23, 2017

AOA really needed "Good Luck" or "Excuse Me" to be monster hits. They lost their momentum and their chance at good income for all members. Before her idol days ChoA had a good income, so staying with the group and trying to climb back up to the top would be tough.

dancerforlife26 rickkelly Friday, June 23, 2017

good income? so choA had a good, real job before being an idol?

noedardma dancerforlife26 Friday, June 23, 2017

She had a real job but the income is absolutely lower than being an idol.

i_belong_to_yg noedardma Friday, June 23, 2017

I dont agree with that actually. before debuting, she had a stable income to herself but being an idol does not earn an stable income, especially for groups like AOA. sometimes you have a hit, sometime you don't and the income also fluctuates based on that. plus, they have to share whatever income among 7/8 members. and, idols do not have stable monthly income, everything is based on promotions and sales.

i_belong_to_yg dancerforlife26 Friday, June 23, 2017

Yes, she was a salesperson or something before debut and used to make up to $5,000 a month. that's was a whopping lots of money for her age at that time.

noedardma i_belong_to_yg Friday, June 23, 2017

As far as I remember (I'm too lazy to dig the article), her previous job was not a stable job either. It was kind of like a pyramid scheme, multi-level marketing, or something like that (for short, it's shady). I think she said that on Radio Star. I think you're underestimating AOA and FNC (FNC is a big company). I don't know about their contracts but I seriously doubt that they aren't well-off. Girl's Day & EXID are about the same level as them, more or less. All of those 2 groups members are really well-off. AOA members (individually or as a group) had tons of events and CFs. They also managed to have their own concert. A solo concert is a huge achievement for a girl group (both EXID and GD never had a solo one, probably lol cmiiw). So, let's not underestimate our idols.

i_belong_to_yg noedardma Friday, June 23, 2017

are you saying GD never had a solo concert in the last line? just checking.... no, salesmanship is actually an art itself but a pretty stable job. you are constantly competeting with your team for more sales and the more you sale, the better pays you get and the promotions you'd score. but that does not take away the fact that you have a stable monthly income. salemsmanship is basically like any other customer-related job, be it in car sales, electronic sales and business sales..... you are always negotiating with customers. it is a cutthroat field but a lot more stable than idolship.

noedardma i_belong_to_yg Friday, June 23, 2017

LOL GD = Girl's Day. Sojin, Yura, Hyeri and Minah. Not Kwon Ji-yong. Phew.. I just find & read the article. It really was shady but not because it's a pyramid scheme. It's because she was working for 12 hours a day. Pyramid schemes are illegal in many country btw, just sharing info. Nope, compared to being idol, being a reward-type salesman are pretty much the same. Both jobs are depending on demands. Both also don't have fixed income. But, the bonus & paycheck for salesperson < bonus for idols. So, I doubt money is one of her reasons to leave AOA.

i_belong_to_yg noedardma Friday, June 23, 2017

oh, haha. was gonna flip out thinking you meant GD. I should have read it from the context. I guess you are right, money might not be the stress point for her. and she has the vocals so if singing is still in her interest, I am sure she can also go back to it.... but I guess this group promotion is probably very limiting and sometimes you'd have to give up on much of your individuality for the group's sake so I understand if she has more reasons for leaving.

danilove3709 Friday, June 23, 2017

Damn, this whole thing just got so messy.

noedardma Friday, June 23, 2017

IMO her leave from AOA is already finalized by FNC. All this are just the business & PR sides of the story (the behind the scenes).

myname_isaac Friday, June 23, 2017

The best vocalist in the group is now gone. What is the fate of the group now?
