Shownu revealed to have shared his solo CF earnings with fellow MONSTA X members.

On the April 5 broadcast of 'Weekly Idol', Kihyun revealed that Shownu equally split the earnings he made from a solo CF gig with the other 6 members. Jung Hyung Don and Defconn praised Shownu for his good deed.

Shownu seemed a bit embarrassed by the praise and explained, "I shared because I think it'll be my first, as well as last CF."

That's very nice and generous of him. Although I thought all these groups had contract terms which state what has to be shared and what doesn't. Most groups before renewal seem to have to share all earnings from solo promotions with the group, minus royalties if you've composed songs.

I guess it depends on the company. Not all groups share individual earnings, even during first contract. But it does seem like a lot of them do

Well it is really nice of him, he is the leader and maybe they still have some debt? As long as he keeps the money of his solo activities in the future, there is no problem.

Well its nice from him but I dont get the other members. I would never take  money that someone else has earned. Thats just not something you should do.

I think it's hard to make that kind of distinction in kpop teams - since any activities or success enjoyed by an individual member are so tied together with the group's, and vice versa.

A company explained before that this kind of system is used because that member got the opportunity to do solo work because that person gained fame/recognition from being a part of a group. So it was only fair (at first) to split it all equally. :D

I have no idea why people have an issue with their private business... he has his reasons for doing so... I see no issue whatsoever if that's his decision. Also, from the cultural perspective, things might be a lot different there
