Writer says she can't sue 'The Legend of the Blue Sea' despite similarities to her past work

Writer Park claims that SBS drama 'The Legend of the Blue Sea' is very similar to a movie scenario she wrote 10 years ago.

On December 1-4, writer Park introduced herself as the writer of 'The Legend of Hae Wol Sea: Pearly Shells' on the official website of 'The Legend of the Blue Sea' and pointed out the similarities between her work and the trending drama.

The writer wrote, "Not only did it include mermaids, but the situations in the drama and the portrayals are very similar." Though she demanded an apology, writer Park said she does not want to call it plagiarism.

She explained, "I want to emphasize once again that I'm not here to say that they have plagiarized my writing. Why? Because I am a poor citizen. How can I take legal action against big, threatening existences like Choi Soon-Sil and Cha Eun Tak? If they deny and try to demolish me, I will just go die. This is an analysis of the similar parts, but I've never said it was plagiarism. I heard you get sued if you talk big and claim that it's plagiarized. "

'The Legend of the Blue Sea' has already been involved in plagiarism controversies for scenes that look similar to ones from 'Sherlock'. Netizens are starting to express disappointment and anger at the scriptwriter for the ongoing plagiarism controversies.

Meanwhile, representatives of 'The Legend of the Blue Sea' have kept silent on the situation.

ok, I hate how this post says 'netizens are starting to express disappointment and anger at the scriptwriter for ongoing plagiarism controversies.' Nothing against allkpop at all but honestly what do you expect from a drama of a mermaid and a handsome man? Writers often take inspiration from certain things and that doesn't mean they are plagiarizing? If it really bothers you that much to the point you have to go onto the internet and complain about i then simply dont watch it. And this petty writer who is complaining is literally doing it just so she can get attention. She clearly knows she cannot sue them yet she still brings this up as a PSA. LOL no one cares. I feel like this story is pretty authentic compared to the numerous rich guy poor girl stories out there, like are those all plagiarized too???? please think before you speak.

Read the article again. Look at the 2 names she said stole her work and think about if you have seen those names in the news recently. You have this so wrong. Normally I would have dismissed articles like this as what you called *petty* Not this time.

What did you expect from fantasy drama about a mermaid and handsome male character with tied destiny, of course the idea itself comes from the certain stories, movies! The part with the Sherlock was hilarious lol, Sherlock my fav drama and that gave me like a big LOL, but they used it nice for the character, but again they could  me it different, but they simply copied that's why it's LOL  this kind of things does't affect me much from watching the drama, as it's  pretty interesting and funny, so yeah, I'm good.

Looks like she is asking for backup...like the audience, because if she does the wrong move, she can be ruined instead of getting royalties.

Did you read the names of the 2 people that backed this drama? Choi Soon Sil? Cha Eun Tak? Have you read about these 2 in the news lately?

Choi Soon Sil is the woman that President Park allowed access to top secret information and allowed her to blackmail businesses to make herself wealthy. She was so unconcerned about that top secret information that she kept her laptop in an unsecure storage where a reporter just happened to find it. She is the reason President Park was impeached last week.

Because she has no interest in protecting the Korean people. Her interests are becoming wealthier while she neglects Korea and allowing businesses to bypass safety issues and ignore laws so they can make more money and give a portion of it to her.

well... I haven't watched "Sherlock" but to me it looks a little bit like the "Mermaid" from Stephen Chow, specially the scene where she hit herself on a glass wall (ep.1 or 2.. don't remember) ... it's exactly the same scene in the movie.. also the absurd fun apsect of the mermaid ressemble to Chow's mermaid.. But as for the writer, If she had sent it to an editor, there is a lot of chance that it was plagiarized in some part...
