It seems as talent runs in the family when it comes to BoA and her household.
On July 23rd, it was revealed that BoA’s older brother, pianist Kwon Soon Hwon, was recently named an adjunct professor in Piano at Seoul Art College.
Kwon who graduated from Seoul National University’s School of Music and performed as a concert pianist has over 30 albums under his belt, including many famous classical pieces, as well as over 400 classical pieces that he produced himself.
He is well-known for his ‘Easy Classic‘ piano concert series which sells out each time, and Kwon is also known to be a ‘Star Concert Pianist’.
Kwon has also released textbooks for piano students of grades 5 and 6, which include techniques and practice pieces that are essential for learning pianists. His work in many fields of piano prove his abilities as a ‘multi-player’.
On the day he was named an adjunct professor, Kwon was asked to sing one of BoA’s songs. He responded saying, “My singing talents will cause harm to my sister’s reputation, so I will instead perform for you properly in front of a piano, like a true pianist. I hope to foster and raise up genuine and multi-talented artists at this school that not only teaches classical music, but multiple cultural arts such as acting, theater, and more.”
It was also reported that the nation’s only countertenor Louis Choi and bass baritone Park Tae Hwan were also named adjunct professors at the university.
