It's just been revealed that director Son Moon Kwon had committed suicide on January 21st. Son Moon Kwon is famous for directing SBS's popular drama, 'New Tales of Gisaeng', alongside his wife, screenwriter Im Sung Han.
During a recent interview, PD Son's family stated, "Son had hung himself by the stairs in his home two days before Lunar New Year on January 21st. Screenwriter Im was the first to find him."
His family continued, "We learned on February 12th that he had ended his life. Screenwriter Im had told his parents, 'Don't let the other family members know'. Does it make sense to not let his brothers and sisters know the truth?"
Although the couple experienced much popularity with the hit drama, 'New Tales of a Gisaeng', which paved the road for rookie stars Im Soo Hyang and Sung Hoon, it seems that PD Son became depressed over some personal family issues involving his autistic son.
PD Son and Screenwriter Im were preparing a drama together and it was scheduled to air during the first half of 2012, leaving many to wonder about the fate of its production.
