allkpop TV Guide and Ratings (01/01-01/07)

We've got all new shows for this week's episode of 'allkpop TV guide and Ratings'!

Just a reminder, this feature will discuss ratings for each week's episodes, as well as provide brief recaps (with spoilers!) of shows that we know allkpop readers are enjoying.

As we begin a new year, we'll be starting fresh with the new dramas that aired this week:MBC's 'The Moon that Embraces the Sun' (starringKim Soo Hyun,Han Ga In, andJung Il Woo) andKBS's 'Wild Romance' (starringLee Si Young,Lee Dong Wook, andSNSD'sJessica). Meanwhile,KBS's 'Man of Honor' (starring Park Min Young and Chun Jung Myun) aired its finale last week, and it'll soon be replaced by a new program. Joining the crowd of Monday-Tuesday dramas this week wasSBS's 'History of a Salaryman' (starring Lee Bum Soo and Hong Soo Hyun), which replaced 'AThousand Days' Promise'. 'A Thousand Days' Promise' concluded with strong ratings, but it was a little less than what producers had hoped for. It seems that some viewers couldn't take the melodrama, and so they switched to KBS's medical series'Brain', which reached its record rating of 17.9% and 16.7%. Following closely behind 'Brain' was MBC's 'Light and Shadow', which achieved a rating of 15%. 'History of a Salaryman' is a newcomer and so it was expected to start off slow. Surprisingly however, it went from 8.7% and steadily increased to 10%. I'm pretty sure that the producers can thank MBLAQ's Lee Joon for that. New dramas were introduced into the Wednesday-Thursday time slot as well, but the ratings garnered here were much higher than the Monday-Tuesday zone. MBC didn't have to worry about the low ratings from 'I'm a Flower, Too' carrying over into its new drama, 'The Moon That Embraces The Sun'. The saeguk appeal and the star-studded cast won over many viewers, thus clinching first place with a high rating of 20%! Trailing behind them was SBS's 'Take Care of Us, Captain' (starring Goo Hye Sun), which drew 10.5%; meanwhile, KBS's 'Wild Romance' came at a low with 6.7%. 'The Moon that Embraces The Sun' will most likely achieve even higher ratings and hold onto first place, which will leave 'Take Care of Us, Captain' and 'Wild Romance' to compete against each other. [ Below are the spoilers ]           !!!!! ? Man of Honor (KBS) Official Synopsis: Yoon Jae In (Park Min Young) is a struggling young woman who dreams of becoming a nurse. She meets Kim Young Kwang (Chun Jung Myun) at the hospital after he sustained injuries. Kim Young Kwang is a baseball player who used to be hotshot hitter but got demoted to a lower rank. As they struggle to overcome their fates, the two draw closer to one another and find love. Recap of Ep. 24 (Finale): Jae In returns to her nursing job as she quits from the Great Trading Company. Since Jae In has already used two of her three wishes, she decides to save the last wish to find her true love. After she gives Young Kwang hope in his baseball career, he proposes to her. Young Kwang returns to his baseball career and hits a home run for Jae In. Meanwhile, In Chul is arrested by prosecutors as In Woo gets evidence that In Chul was embezzling funds. - ? The Moon that Embraces the Sun (MBC)       Official Synopsis: If you're looking for more saeguk love stories, you need look no further than 'The Moon That Embraces The Sun'. It tells of the stronglove between 'King Lee Hwon' (Kim Soo Hyun) and a female shaman named 'Wol' (Han Ga In). Wol was born from a noble family and became the crown princess, but she was trapped in a political game and faced execution. Ultimately, she decides to live her life as a shaman. Recap of Ep. 1-2: The story begins with the childhood tales of the main characters. A prophecy is revealed involving 'Yeon Woo' (who later becomes 'Wol'), and how she was born with a fateful and noble destiny. Fast forward to when Yeon Woo becomes a13 year old girl attending a ceremony for her brother, Yeom (ZE:A's Siwan). She meets Crown Prince Hwon, but is ignorant of his identity until Hwon reveals through a letter that he is the Crown Prince. - ? Wild Romance (KBS)       Official Synopsis: Because of an unforeseen situation, Eun Jae (Lee Si Young) is appointed as baseball star Moo Yul's (Lee Dong Wook) bodyguard. Although the two hate each other from the beginning, romance arises between the baseball star and his bodyguard, a former judo athlete. Recap of Ep. 1-2: Sports rivalry is taken to a new level as a drunk Eun Jae, fan of the 'Blue Seagulls', runs into Park Moo Yul, the 2nd baseman of the team that beat the 'Blue Seagulls'.Eun Jae starts a fight with Moo Yul, which gets captured on video and goes viral on the internet. Now the careers of both Eun Jae and Moo Yul are in danger, and so to smooth out the troubles, they set up a ruse that Eun Jae was in fact a bodyguard of Moo Yul's, and that the scuffle was only a training session. Despite the resolution of the conflict, Eun Jae and Moo Yul start off on a rocky relationship, as they cannot stand each other... ====       [ End of Spoilers! ]   ==== Stay tuned to next week's digest of drama ratings and summaries from allkpop!
