SHINee's Key reveals he shed tears out of exhaustion for the first time in his idol life due to his hectic schedules on 'I Live Alone'

On the July 21 broadcast of MBC's 'I Live Alone', regular panelist SHINee's Key greeted viewers from his home for the first time in a while after successfully wrapping up promotions for SHINee's 8th full album, 'Hard'.

On this day, Key's fellow panelists were shocked by the messy state of the idol's home. Key revealed that he had been so busy with his schedules, he had no time to spare for his housework.

In his interview, Key shared, "I was so busy that I just had absolutely no time to take care of my surroundings. The state of my house reflects what a busy life I've been living."

Later on, Key got together with his good friend, BTOB's Changsub, and paid a visit with a fellow friend from their military service. A former ballet dancer, Key and Changsub's friend was opening up a new ballet academy after retiring.

Having endured the bulk of their military service together, the three comrades headed to a familiar cuttlefish restaurant for a meal, a restaurant they often stopped at after event schedules with the military band. Here, Key cutely complained to his friends about the awkward atmosphere whenever he went to music programs nowadays. "Back in the day, when SHINee, BTOB, and SISTAR were all on music programs, we would gather in the hallways and gossip," Changsub recalled. To this, Key said, "But now, if I ask our hoobaes to come to the hallway, they act nervous and scared. It's impossible to talk to them comfortably."

For Key, a day reminiscing about the old days with his military service friends was the best medicine for his built up exhaustion. He commented later on, "It was really the first time in my 16-years of promotions that I actually cried because my body couldn't handle the physical labor. All the exhaustion I had built up, I feel like it was cured in one day thanks to today. I think my friends were the source of the healing."

I love Key, and he works so hard. Honestly, I don't need them to do that much in terms of promotions. I know, it's a crucial part of the industry, but I feel like SHINee is doing way more than enough for this comeback. Their content team and the members have defintely stepped up, and I can see, why the fans would love it (I love to see the members have fun with it too), but they could easily dial it down a notch. There is so much SHINee content coming out and I miss 85% of it. For me when groups promote, the music, MV's and live performances (tour/TV) is enough. I enjoy catching dance practices and some of the better interviews, but that's mostly it. I don't need all the variety stuff (unless it's about travelling), the SNS content etc. Plus factoring in his solo activity I can see, why he feels overworked. Even with his years of experience in the industry.

Yes, it's part of the idol job to constantly fear not being relevant and fans/casual listeners moving on to the next thing, and that's incredibly sad, because I think a lot of music fans (not just those part of fandoms) are extremely loyal. Especially the kind of fans, where the music always comes first. For SHINee's comeback - even though Onew is on hiatus, it still feels like he's present. Because his vocals are.
