The 16-year-old Burmese beauty queen, May Myat Noe, who was recently crowned as Miss Asia Pacific 2014 back in May, requested an apology from the pageant organisers for calling her a liar and a thief. David Kim, director of media for the South Korean-based pageant claimed that Noe had ran off with the expensive crown after being stripped of her title and said her actions were 'ungrateful' as well as 'unappreciative'.
However, the beauty queen responded by saying that the organisers had pressured her to undergo a head-to-toe plastic surgery and to escort financial magnates in order to help raise money for her album release in Korea.
According to the organisers, the reason for her dethronement was due to her behavior, including falsifying her age for the pageant. They claimed that she had fled the country with her tiara after receiving $10,000 USD so she could undergo breast implant surgery, which would help bolster her image. The official age to enter the pageant is between 18 to 27 while May was 15-years-old at the time of the pageant.
Lawrence Choi, the president of the 'Supertalent of the World Incorporation' that holds the Miss Asia Pacific World contest, commented that when he had learned that she was not old enough to compete in the contest, it was already too late to find a replacement.
In response, May Myat Noe stated during her September 2 press conference, "I did not steal the crown," and added, "I believe that I have to return the crown to the organization, not the police," when asked if she was going to give back her tiara to the police if they were to show.
May Myat Noe denied that she accepted free breast implants and said that she would only hand back the crown if she were to receive an apology from the organizers for damaging the integrity of her country.
Currently, the organisers are planning to sue May and are going to involve the police in retrieving the tiara which is worth $100,000 USD.
