Actress Cha Joo Young, who recently halted her activities due to health concerns, is currently recovering following surgery under general anesthesia, with her condition still unresolved.
An update on her status was shared through Sung Si Kyung and Ha Ji Won. On March 18, Ha Ji Won appeared as a guest on Sung Si Kyung’s YouTube channel, where she discussed behind-the-scenes stories from the drama 'Climax.'
'Climax' follows a prosecutor who dives into a powerful cartel in pursuit of reaching the top in South Korea, portraying an intense survival story involving those around him. Alongside Ha Ji Won, the drama also stars Ju Ji Hoon and Cha Joo Young.
During the episode, Sung Si Kyung praised the cast, saying he had put extra effort into preparing for the show, adding that both Ju Ji Hoon and Cha Joo Young impressed him with their professionalism. He then revealed Cha Joo Young’s current condition, explaining that she had been invited as a surprise guest but was unable to attend due to ongoing health issues.
“She’s still dealing with recurring nosebleeds that haven’t been resolved,” he said. “It was serious enough to require surgery under general anesthesia,” offering insight into her recovery.
In response, Ha Ji Won expressed her regret that Cha Joo Young could not join them, sharing that she had spoken with her on the phone. She added that they plan to meet once Cha Joo Young has fully recovered.
Meanwhile, Cha Joo Young has been on a temporary hiatus since January due to health issues. Her agency previously stated that she had been undergoing detailed examinations and treatment for prolonged, recurring nosebleed symptoms. Following medical advice, she proceeded with an ENT surgery that could no longer be delayed. The agency also asked for understanding as she focuses on recovery, noting that she will be unable to participate in official schedules, including promotional activities, during this period.
