Netflix film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' dominated the Annie Awards, sweeping major categories and taking home a total of 10 trophies.
The International Animated Film Association hosted the 53rd Annie Awards on February 22 (KST) in Los Angeles. KPop Demon Hunters emerged as the biggest winner of the night.
The film claimed top honors, including Best Feature, along with awards for Visual Effects, Character Design, Music, Production Design, and Voice Acting, among others.
Its strong showing has heightened expectations ahead of next month’s Academy Awards, as the Annie Awards are often referred to as the “Oscars of the animation world.”
Of the 23 films that have won Best Feature at the Annies, 14 have gone on to claim an Oscar. However, last year’s 'The Wild Robot' left the Academy Awards empty-handed.
Since its release in June last year, 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' has enjoyed global popularity, setting a new record as Netflix’s most-watched original animated film to date.
The film has also seen continued success throughout awards season, earning two wins at the Critics' Choice Awards and the Golden Globes, as well as taking home the Best Original Soundtrack award at the Grammys.
The 98th Academy Awards are scheduled to take place on March 15, where 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' is nominated in two categories.
