Jun Hyun Moo recently opened up about his mother, who was sparing with praise even after he won the Entertainment Grand Prize four times.
On the night of the 18th, popera singer Lim Hyung Joo appeared on TV CHOSUN’s ‘My Dad and Me Season 3’ and revealed his “award room,” filled with certificates and honors including the UN Peace Medal, a presidential commendation from both Korea and the United States, and the Order of Civil Merit. When the cast asked about his mother’s reaction, Jun Hyun Moo commented, “My mother is very similar to Helen Kim.”
Jun Hyun Moo shared, “When I was in school, she packed thermal lunch boxes for me three times a day, but that was it. Once I entered college, she stopped doing even that. She raised me strictly because she was worried I might grow up weak.” He added, “Even when good news articles came out and things were going well, she never praised me. Not even once.”
He went on to say that instead of compliments, he often heard remarks such as, “Be more careful,” and “It’s not because you did well.” Lim Hyung Joo empathized, saying, “My mother is the same. She always tells me, ‘The higher you rise, the easier it is to fall,’ and ‘Always stay humble.’”
Jun Hyun Moo then lightened the mood by responding with a laugh, “My mother didn’t go that far with harsh words.”
