Han Ji Min has revealed the key appeal of her character Lee Eui Young in JTBC’s upcoming weekend drama ‘The Practical Guide to Love.’
‘The Practical Guide to Love,’ written by Lee Yi Jin and directed by Lee Jae Hoon, tells the story of a woman who decides to pursue love and goes on blind dates, where she meets two men with different charms. As she finds herself drawn to and shaken by both, she ultimately searches for the true meaning of love. Han Ji Min takes on the role of Lee Eui Young.
Speaking about the drama, Han Ji Min shared, “I was drawn to the realistic story about love and the concerns people often have at a stage in life when marriage becomes a serious consideration. It felt very relatable.”
She described her character’s greatest strength as honesty. “Lee Eui Young’s biggest and most admirable charm is her honesty,” she said. “Whether at work, with friends, when meeting someone on a blind date, or when struggling with her feelings in love, she never loses that honesty.”
In the drama, Lee Eui Young is a capable professional who earns recognition and trust at work, yet finds herself in a prolonged slump when it comes to romance. Han Ji Min explained, “I think she is someone many people can relate to, an ordinary person we might easily picture among our friends. I could think of one or two friends like her myself.”
She continued, “Working hard and then suddenly finding yourself thinking about marriage feels like a natural stage of life that many people go through. Rather than being extraordinary, she feels like someone who could be right beside you, which makes her even more charming."
As for what viewers should focus on, Han Ji Min said, “I hope viewers can naturally follow Lee Eui Young’s emotional journey. The drama realistically portrays the feelings we experience through repeated meetings and breakups, along with the excitement, uncertainty, and worries that come with new love.”
She added, “If you were Lee Eui Young, which choice would you make between Song Tae Seop (Park Sung Hoon) and Shin Ji Soo (Lee Ki Taek)? I hope viewers will think about it from her perspective,” raising anticipation for the character’s emotional direction and ultimate decision.
‘The Practical Guide to Love’ premieres on the 28th at 10:40 p.m.
