Former Wonder Girls leader Sunye shared a surprising update on her life, revealing her cooking skills as a homemaker of 14 years.
On the February 27 broadcast of KBS 2TV’s 'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' (hereafter Fun-Staurant), a new chef contestant made an ambitious debut. The contestant was none other than Sunye, leader of the legendary K-pop girl group Wonder Girls.
When Sunye appeared at the recent studio recording, she was met with warm applause. Special MC Kim Yong Bin also expressed his excitement, confessing his fandom by saying, “Back then, I used to dance to ‘Tell Me.’ That’s how much I liked them.” He even shyly demonstrated part of the choreography, drawing laughter.
With the arrival of the iconic girl group star, chef Lee Yeon Bok asked, “Are you good at cooking?” Sunye cautiously replied, “If I hadn’t become a singer, I might have opened a restaurant,” piquing curiosity. She humbly added, “I’m raising three daughters, and I cook all three meals for them myself,” which surprised everyone in the studio. Smiling, she said, “My eldest is already in middle school. I’m a middle school mom now.”

The VCR segment then revealed Sunye’s cooking skills for the first time, showcasing her experience as a homemaker of 14 years and mother of three. She impressed viewers with her quick hands and ability to perfectly season dishes by instinct. She also revealed that she makes essential condiments herself, including soy sauce, chili oil, and seasoning powders, all using natural ingredients.
While preparing side dishes for her daughters, Sunye shared cooking tips that reflected her years of experience. The Fun-Staurant cast expressed their amazement, saying, “She’s no longer the Sunye from the ‘Tell Me’ days. She’s returned as a homemaker of 14 years.”
Sunye reflected on her journey, saying, “I got married at 24 and moved to Canada. I brought cookbooks with me, tried everything myself, and went through many trials and errors to create my own recipes.”
