Actress Uhm Ji Won shared her unforgettable first impression of fellow actor Jung Woo Sung.
On the February 18 episode of MBC’s variety show 'Radio Star' (episode 953), Uhm Ji Won appeared as a guest alongside Choi Dae Chul, Kim Jo Han, and Baek Jin Kyung, who is known as an “honorary Brit.”
During the broadcast, Uhm Ji Won recalled her audition experience. “When I was filming ‘Golden Carriage,’ director Kwak Kyung Taek was preparing the drama ‘Mutt Boy,’ and Jung Woo Sung had already been cast. He said everyone except Jung Woo Sung would have to audition. I wanted the role so badly. When I told my manager I wanted to go see him, he said, ‘The director isn’t even interested in you, so why bother?’” She said. Despite long odds, she made it through hundreds of applicants to reach the final audition round.

Describing the moment she saw Jung Woo Sung, Uhm Ji Won said, “Director Kwak Kyung Taek, the cinematographer, and the lighting director were sitting in the back row, and Jung Woo Sung was there as well. The moment I walked in, it felt like only he was under a pin spotlight. He was so handsome. I remember thinking, ‘Is there really someone that good-looking in the world?’”
She added that she performed all in front of both the directors and Jung Woo Sung. “After I finished, the director asked, ‘Would you like some water?’ At that moment, I thought, ‘I got it.’ From the nuance, I felt like I had been chosen,” she said with a laugh. “Usually, you get contacted through your agency, but he reached out to me directly. He said, ‘This is Kwak Kyung Taek. You appeared in my dream. I’d like to work together.’” she shared proudly.
Meanwhile, Jung Woo Sung made headlines last November after it was revealed that he had fathered a child out of wedlock with model Moon Gabi. At the time, he stated, “As a father, I will take full responsibility for my child.” In August, reports emerged that he had registered his marriage with a non-celebrity woman, not Moon Gabi, drawing further public attention.
