Veteran actor Park Geun Hyung has shared a candid story about his past melodrama performance opposite Kim Hye Soo.
On the January 14 broadcast of MBC’s variety show 'Radio Star,' Park Geun Hyung appeared as a guest alongside Song Ok Sook, Choi Hyun Woo, and Wonhee, engaging in a wide-ranging conversation.
During the episode, Park Geun Hyung reflected on his experience starring in a melodrama with Kim Hye Soo, who was more than 30 years younger than him at the time. He explained that in 1991, at the age of 51, he played a film producer in the drama 'Rose-Colored Life,' portraying a married couple with Kim Hye Soo, who was then a rookie actress.

Park Geun Hyung explained, "It was a story where we were supposed to get married and live together." He recalled, “I honestly wondered if the writer and the director were out of their minds. The age gap was just too big, and it was incredibly awkward for me. It didn’t come from the heart at all. She felt like a young daughter.” He added, “I even felt sorry for her, thinking, ‘Why did she enter the industry to act at such a young age?’”
When asked specifically about the kiss scene, Park Geun Hyung said, “Direct, explicit direction felt too uncomfortable, so we expressed it indirectly.” He explained that they relied on cinematic tricks, such as placing a finger over the lips or turning his back to the camera.
As for whether he is still in touch with Kim Hye Soo, Park Geun Hyung shared warmly, “We still keep in frequent contact. Whenever I do a stage play, she even comes to see me in person.”
