Virtual idol boy group PLAVE has donated 100 million KRW (approx. 69,221 USD) to help children under protection transition into independent adulthood.
On December 30, the child welfare organization Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation announced that PLAVE and its agency, VLAST, donated to support youths preparing to leave the child protection system.
The funds will be used to help children approaching the end of protective care make a stable transition into society. Green Umbrella plans to provide support through its Child Development Account (CDA), also known as the Didim Seed Account, which encourages regular savings for children under protection.
This marks the group’s second donation, following a contribution made last year. In December 2024, PLAVE and VLAST raised 100 million KRW by combining proceeds from a fan-created emoticon project, individual donations from PLAVE members, and contributions from the agency itself. That donation was also made to Green Umbrella and used to support pregnant women.
“We hope this contribution can be a small source of strength for children under protection as they prepare for independence without losing hope,” PLAVE said. “We hope this donation will serve as a way to cheer on their future.”
A representative from Green Umbrella commented, “We are grateful for their continued generosity, and we hope this donation will lead to meaningful change for children under protection and families in crisis. We will continue providing diverse forms of support so that every child can grow up happily, from birth to independence.”
PLAVE debuted in March 2023 as a five-member virtual boy group. The group has achieved multiple milestones, including becoming the first virtual idol to top domestic music charts and setting new records for daily streaming numbers. On November 21 and 22, PLAVE also made history as the first virtual idol group to hold a solo concert at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome.
