Comedian Lee Soo Ji is continuing her acts of kindness by donating 30 million KRW(~20,000 USD) to Severance Hospital to support children and adolescents with severe illnesses.
According to Severance Hospital on January 20th KST, Lee Soo Ji delivered the donation to help children and teenagers suffering from severe rare and intractable diseases, as well as their families. It was reported that since Christmas 2024, she has been regularly visiting the hospital’s pediatric cancer ward, spending time with young patients and bringing them moments of laughter.
Lee Soo Ji’s connection to the hospital began with a pediatric cancer patient who often imitated her. The child’s guardian once sent her a video of the patient mimicking her comedy during chemotherapy treatment. After watching the clip, Lee Soo Ji prepared toys and personally visited the hospital.
She continued to meet the child regularly and share laughter. Although the patient later passed away, Lee Soo Ji reportedly came to see bringing smiles to sick children as her own calling, which led her to visit the hospital on an ongoing basis.
Last Christmas, Lee Soo Ji also visited the pediatric cancer ward with fellow entertainer Kim Ah Young, where they met with the children and offered small moments of joy through volunteer performances. A donation was also made during that visit.
The latest contribution will be used across pediatric and adolescent palliative care services, including psychological and emotional support, educational programs, volunteer activities, and bereavement care for families of children with severe rare and intractable conditions.
Lee Soo Ji shared, “If I can give even a brief moment of laughter to children in hospital beds and the families who stay by their side, that alone makes me happy.” She added, “I’m glad to be able to support 빛담아이 palliative care services, which look after not only patients but also the hearts of their families, and I sincerely hope they can return to a healthy daily life as soon as possible.”
