FIFTY FIFTY is once again gaining traction in North America with its first-ever hip-hop track, “Skittlez.”
The song ranked No. 38 on the North American radio chart Mediabase Top 40, released on January 20. “Skittlez” was originally unveiled in November last year and has continued its steady run in the region for three consecutive months.
Mediabase Top 40 is a chart that aggregates radio airplay data across North America, ranking songs based on actual broadcast frequency. It is widely used as an indicator of which tracks are currently resonating with local radio audiences.
ATTRAKT, the group’s agency, explained, “Entering the Top 40 is a key indicator of radio airplay performance. It also serves as a barometer of mainstream popularity in North America.”
Meanwhile, “Skittlez” marks FIFTY FIFTY’s first attempt at a hip-hop song since their debut. The track compares the moment when emotions between two people burst all at once to the explosion of flavors in the candy Skittles.
