Legendary singer Choi Baek Ho appeared on MBN's 'Kim Joo Ha's Day & Night' on January 17, sharing honest stories about his 50-year music career and his connection with junior artist IU.
Choi Baek Ho discussed his song "To the Land of Hope," which served as the OST for the drama 'When Life Gives You Tangerines (starring IU and Park Bo Gum)'. The song became a huge hit and made headlines when IU was seen tearing up during Choi Baek Ho's congratulatory performance at an awards ceremony.
However, he surprised everyone by confessing, "Honestly, that song is not my style. I had a hard time recording it. It looked simple, but it didn't go well." Despite his personal struggles with the track, he expressed gratitude that it became a massive hit after the drama aired.
The episode also touched upon their long-standing musical relationship, starting from their 2013 duet "The Child Walks". Choi Baek Ho praised IU as a "deep and talented friend," showing his affection for her as a junior musician.
Apart from the IU story, Choi Baek Ho opened up about his health. He revealed that he had battled a non-tuberculous mycobacterial lung disease five years ago, which caused his weight to drop to 55kg. Although he is now cured, he shared that he is still working on recovering his weight.
