
Actress Bae Doona will serve as a jury member at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival, set to take place next month, the festival announced on January 28.
Bae will join fellow jurors, including American filmmaker Reinaldo Marcus Green and Nepalese director Min Bahadur Bham to select winners in the competition section, including the festival’s top honor, the Golden Bear. The jury will be chaired by acclaimed German director Wim Wenders.
Within the Korean film industry, Lee Young Ae (2006) and director Bong Joon Ho (2015) have previously served as jury members at the Berlin festival.
This year’s Berlin International Film Festival will run from February 12 to 22, with 22 films competing for the Golden Bear. Among them is 'Queen at Sea,' starring Juliette Binoche and directed by Lance Hammer.
Korean cinema will also be represented across multiple sections. Director Hong Sang Soo, a longtime Berlinale regular, will screen 'The Day She Returned' in the Panorama section, while Jung Ji Young’s 'My Name' has been invited to the Forum section. Director Yoo Jae In’s feature debut 'En Route To' will screen in the Generation 14plus section, which spotlights coming-of-age films.
