Singer Younha has donated 100 million KRW (~68,000 USD) to the Korea Student Aid Foundation, pledging ongoing support for nurturing talent in the field of basic science.

On December 9th KST, Younha attended the donation ceremony for the 2025 Blue Lighthouse Younha Scholarship held at the Korea Student Aid Foundation’s Seoul office in Jung-gu, Seoul.

The Korea Student Aid Foundation, a quasi-governmental organization under the Ministry of Education, was established to provide academic support so that anyone—regardless of financial background—can pursue higher education based on their determination and ability. Together, the foundation and Younha will launch the Blue Lighthouse Younha Scholarship in 2026, continuing the initiative annually with 100 million KRW in funding to support low-income university students majoring in basic sciences (physics and astronomy), rather than as a one-time donation.

Younha’s 100 million KRW contribution will be used to select 20 outstanding physics and astronomy majors each semester through the 2026 Blue Lighthouse Younha Scholarship, providing each student with a 2.5 million KRW scholarship. Known for her astronomy-themed songs such as “Event Horizon,” “Oort Cloud,” “Comet,” “Black hole,” and “Stardust,” Younha has long expressed fascination with space and science—and her latest donation expands that interest into meaningful philanthropic action.

During the ceremony, Younha shared, “I wanted to share the love I’ve received from my fans with the scientists of the future. Through sustained yearly support, I hope students studying physics and astronomy can focus on their academics without financial worries and grow into bright talents who shine like the stars in the night sky.”

Go Young Jong, executive director of the Korea Student Aid Foundation, added, “Younha’s generous donation will serve as a reliable ‘event horizon’ and stepping stone for university students in basic science as they pursue their dreams. The foundation will do everything it can to support them.”

Younha will hold her small-theater concert Shining Winter at Ewha Womans University Samsung Hall in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, across twelve dates on January 9–11, 16–18, 23–25, 30–31, and February 1, 2026. All shows have sold out, reflecting strong anticipation.
