Following recent dating rumors involving BTS’s Jungkook, aespa’s Winter has found herself at the center of intensified malicious comments—and her agency is taking firm legal action.
On December 10th KST, SM Entertainment released an official statement, saying, “Through valuable reports submitted via ‘KWANGYA 119’ and our own monitoring, we are acutely aware of the seriousness of the ongoing malicious posts and comments related to our artists—including sexual harassment, defamation, personal attacks, insults, invasion of privacy, and deepfake content.”
SM Entertainment continued, “In particular, on platforms such as DC Inside, Women’s Generation, Nate Pann, Instiz, TheQoo, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube, we have identified numerous instances of posts and comments defaming Winter’s character and reputation, as well as malicious postings intended solely to slander the artist or sexually harass her. After reviewing these posts, we will be expanding our legal actions step by step.”
They added, “We are currently pursuing both criminal complaints and civil claims against individuals who have posted malicious content about aespa on the platforms mentioned above. We have also secured a large volume of evidence regarding the creation of harmful rumors, repeated dissemination of false information, sexually harassing posts, ridicule, and the production and distribution of distorted content on personal social media, online communities, and anonymous boards. We will respond firmly and without leniency, so we urge everyone to refrain from engaging in such misconduct.”
