Police have booked mukbang YouTuber HAETNIM the short mouth in connection with the so-called ‘Injection Aunt’ controversy and have begun a formal investigation.
According to police, on December 19, a criminal complaint was filed with the Mapo Police Station, alleging violations of the Medical Service Act and the Narcotics Control Act, against HAETNIM, the short mouth, and her manager. The case has been assigned to the station’s narcotics crime investigation team.
The complainant reportedly requested an investigation into the overall circumstances surrounding alleged illegal medical treatment and the prescription of narcotic-classified pharmaceutical drugs.
HAETNIM the short mouth is suspected of having been prescribed narcotic-controlled diet medication by an individual surnamed Lee, commonly referred to as ‘Injection Aunt,’ allegedly for weight-loss purposes. The drug in question is widely known as the ‘butterfly pill,’ an appetite suppressant that may contain phentermine, a substance regulated under narcotics law.
After being linked to the same individual following similar allegations involving Park Na Rae and SHINee’s Key, HAETNIM issued a statement explaining that she was introduced to Lee through an acquaintance and first met him at a hospital in Gangnam District. She stated that, based on the hospital’s appearance and circumstances at the time, she believed Lee to be a licensed medical doctor and received treatment without suspicion. She added that while Lee had visited her home on occasions when she was unable to visit the hospital, she had never visited Lee’s residence.
She further stated, “I sincerely apologize to my fans and those concerned for any inconvenience or harm caused unintentionally. I am reflecting on the controversy and allegations currently being raised, and if any wrongdoing is found, I will acknowledge it and take responsibility without evasion,” announcing a suspension of her activities.
On December 18, Dispatch reported that HAETNIM the short mouth had allegedly received diet medication through illegal means, citing private messages exchanged between Park Na Rae’s former manager and Lee. In the messages, Lee allegedly stated, “HAETNIM takes it three times a day. On days when she eats heavily, she even takes it four times.”
In addition, allegations have been raised that HAETNIM acted as a courier delivering medication to Park Na Rae. Suspicions have also surfaced regarding unauthorized medical procedures, including IV drip treatments and the use of radiofrequency medical devices, which are prohibited without proper medical licensing.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the facts and the extent of any potential legal violations.
