Actors Choi Woo Sik and Jang Hye Jin are reuniting on screen as mother and son. Alongside Gong Seung Yeon, they will meet audiences this February with the film 'Number One.'

On the 22nd, distributor BY4M Studio announced the February 2026 release of Number One, starring Choi Woo Sik, Jang Hye Jin, and Gong Seung Yeon, and unveiled its teaser trailer.

'Number One' tells the story of Ha Min (played by Choi Woo Sik), who begins seeing a number that decreases by one each time he eats his mother’s home-cooked meal. He eventually realizes that when the number reaches zero, his mother Eun Sil (portrayed by Jang Hye Jin) will die. The film is based on the novel 'You Have 328 More Chances to Eat Your Mother’s Home-Cooked Meals' by Uwano Sora.

The teaser opens with high school student Ha Min leaving for school, only to see the number before his eyes drop from 361 to 360. Confused by the ongoing countdown, he soon discovers that the number decreases only when he eats food prepared by his mother. Eun Sil scolds her son for spitting out his food, portraying a realistic and relatable mother-son dynamic that heightens interest.

Later, as an adult, Ha Min’s girlfriend Ryeo Eun (played by Gong Seung Yeon) remarks, “Sometimes you look like someone who’s constantly being chased by something,” hinting that even as time passes, he remains trapped by the numbers haunting his life. The teaser shows Ha Min living with the secret that he can see his mother’s remaining time as numbers, before ending on the striking line, “Is your time infinite?” The final shot—Ha Min turning his back on the dinner table as the number 1 hovers above his head—leaves a lingering emotional impact and fuels curiosity about the ending.

Anticipation is especially high as 'Number One' marks the reunion of Choi Woo Sik and Jang Hye Jin, who left a strong impression with their unique mother-son chemistry in Bong Joon Ho’s Oscar-winning film 'Parasite' (2019).

Choi Woo Sik has remained active across genres, from the drama 'Would You Marry Me' (which concluded in November) to 'Melo Movie,' 'A Killer Paradox,' and films such as 'Wonderland' and 'The Witch.' He has also built a warm, approachable image through variety shows like 'Jinny’s Kitchen 2.' Attention is now focused on how he will portray Ha Min, a son burdened by an extraordinary fate.

Jang Hye Jin recently delivered a standout performance as the realistic yet friend-like mother Tae Seon in the October release 'The World of Love.' The independent film achieved an unusual box-office success, surpassing 180,000 admissions and winning multiple domestic and international awards. Expectations are high for how her emotionally resonant portrayal of a mother will unfold once again in 'Number One.'

The nuanced and heartfelt emotional chemistry between Choi Woo Sik and Jang Hye Jin, centered around the simple act of sharing a home-cooked meal, is expected to warmly move audiences. Gong Seung Yeon, playing Ha Min’s girlfriend Ryeo Eun, will add depth and charm with her versatile and comforting presence.

'Number One' is set to hit theaters in February next year.
