Min Hee Jin is currently facing backlash for a recent statement she made regarding girl group NewJeans.
On December 4, Min Hee Jin made an appearance on the political YouTube program 'The Genre is Yeouido,' where she was expected to speak at length about her ongoing 26 billion KRW lawsuit with HYBE. During the interview, Min Hee Jin also discussed NewJeans' return to ADOR, including the separation of Hyein and Haerin's return from that of the other three members.
When asked what her feelings towards NewJeans are now, and if she felt sorry towards them after everything that's happened, Min Hee Jin responded: "HYBE is the one that should be apologizing to NewJeans."
She went on to criticize the way NewJeans' return to ADOR has been handled so far, saying, "The members all delivered their intentions to return on the same day, with only a time gap [between Haerin and Hyein's statement vs. Danielle, Minji, and Hanni's]. Why is it being framed as if there's a division between the members?" Min Hee Jin suggested that HYBE was splitting up the members on purpose, to create confusion within the fandom.
The host then asked if Min Hee Jin was still in contact with the members of NewJeans. She answered, "No, and I can't really talk about that... No matter what I say or do, articles come out about it. It's at the point where if I went to the bathroom ten times, articles would be written about it."
Min Hee Jin also commented on the negative public perception of her. "I mostly hear about the negative public opinion of me secondhand, from the people around me. I don't really feel it, because people are still nice to me in person."
