Entertainer Jo Se Ho, who recently faced allegations of ties to an organized crime figure, has released a personal statement addressing the issue.
On December 9th KST, Jo Se Ho posted a lengthy message on his social media, writing that while he worried a detailed explanation might cause further discomfort, he felt it was his responsibility to directly share his thoughts with those who have supported him.
He acknowledged being inexperienced in managing relationships while meeting various people through local events, but firmly denied the allegations, stating, “The suspicions raised due to those acquaintances are entirely untrue.”
He added, “I understand that the images shown in the photos have already caused disappointment. I should have brought laughter and comfort to viewers, yet instead caused discomfort and let you down. I deeply reflect on and apologize for that.”
Following the controversy, Jo Se Ho voluntarily stepped down from tvN’s Yoo Quiz on the Block and KBS2’s 2 Days & 1 Night. He explained, “On Yoo Quiz on the Block, the most important thing is listening attentively to the guests’ stories, and I do not believe I can fulfill that role in my current state.” Regarding 2 Days & 1 Night, he said he worried about being a burden to the program and its team.
Jo Se Ho continued, “After getting married last year and starting a family, I have been trying to become a better person, but I am realizing my shortcomings.” He also suggested legal action, stating that he plans to correct claims that are untrue through appropriate procedures for the sake of his family.
He concluded, “I will be more careful with those around me and with my actions to avoid causing this kind of disappointment again. I will become a better person. Once again, I sincerely apologize.”
Previously, a social media user alleged that Jo Se Ho had long-standing ties with Choi, a known organized crime figure under investigation for illegal gambling and money laundering, claiming he had received expensive gifts and spent time at adult entertainment venues with him. Jo Se Ho’s side denied the accusations, stating there were no improper ties or compensation and that they would pursue swift and firm legal action to restore his damaged reputation.
