Singer-songwriter and producer GRAY is set to participate in the upcoming film 'Project Y' (directed by Lee Hwan) as its music director, signaling a highly stylized and distinctive musical approach.
On December 18, the production team behind 'Project Y' announced, “GRAY has joined the project as music director,” adding, “His uniquely emotive music captures the film’s genre-driven appeal.”
'Project Y' follows the story of Mi Seon (played by Han So Hee) and Do Kyung (played by Jeon Jong Seo), who find themselves at the edge of their lives and steal illicit cash and gold bars, triggering a dangerous chain of events. The film stars Han So Hee, Jeon Jong Seo, Kim Shin Rok, Jung Young Joo, Lee Jae Gyun, YooA, and Kim Sung Cheol.
GRAY previously took on the role of music director for the Netflix film 'Ballerina,' marking his first foray into film scoring. For 'Project Y,' he plans to showcase a completely different musical color from his past work. Artists including HwaSa, Kim Wan Sun, DeVita, Hoody, and Ahn Shin Ae participated as vocalists in the soundtrack.
Director Lee Hwan expressed strong satisfaction, stating, “I wanted music that was new and different from the way GRAY has worked before,” adding, “He delivered results that exceeded what I had originally envisioned.”
'Project Y' is scheduled for theatrical release on January 21, 2026.
