AKMU's Suhyun has expressed her gratitude to Yang Hyun Suk, the head of YG Entertainment.
On the afternoon of December 31, Suhyun wrote on her personal social media account, “I sincerely thank all the many staff members who have been with us for the past 12 years, and YG, who has always trusted and respected us.”
She continued, “The YG family was my pride, and thanks to you, I was truly happy. As we set off on a new journey, I will never forget this place, which feels like my hometown at heart. Thank you so much for everything. I sincerely pray that everyone stays healthy and happy. Goodbye!” She openly expressed her deep affection for her former agency, YG.
Her brother Chanhyuk also posted a message on his personal account the same day, saying, "Goodbye YG, 2013–2025. I’m deeply grateful for everything and thank you for helping us grow."
Previously, YG officially announced the termination of its contract with AKMU on November 21.
At the time, YG explained, "About six months ago, Executive Producer Yang Hyun Suk visited the home where AKMU members Lee Chan Hyuk and Lee Su Hyun live, and they shared dinner. While enjoying food prepared by the members themselves, they reminisced about fond memories from the past 12 years, starting from when they first met on the 2012 audition program ‘K-pop Star Season 2.’ They also had an honest discussion about the concerns AKMU is currently facing. AKMU’s sole concern was whether to continue together with YG, with whom they have shared joy and hardship for the past 12 years, or to pursue a new challenge by becoming independent. As they stood at this crossroads, Yang encouraged AKMU by sharing his belief that stepping outside of YG to explore music in a new environment could also be a valuable experience, and he sincerely expressed his intention to support them from behind.”
