Actor and publishing company CEO Park Jung Min has found himself at the center of a light-hearted yet buzzworthy “tyrant boss” accusation.
On December 3, the YouTube channel for his publishing house, MUZE Publishing, uploaded a Q&A video in which Park Jung Min and director Kim Ah Young responded to subscriber questions. One viewer asked whether the company ever holds team dinners.
Park Jung Min replied with a laugh, explaining, “We’ve been working together for about seven or eight months, and we haven’t had a single team dinner. How would we even do that? It’d just be the two of us drinking together.” He added, “A team dinner is usually when people grab a beer after work and talk about the future of the company. Once the office gets a bit more crowded, maybe then we’ll try it.”
When Kim Ah Young commented, “Honestly, our work never ends,” Park Jung Min pointed to the late hour. “Do you know what time it is? It’s 10:30 PM. I inherently hate that kind of thing. If someone says, ‘Let’s grab a beer after work,’ all I can think is, ‘I need to go home to play games,’ or ‘I have things to do at home.’ It breaks my routine.”
He went on, “I don’t show it, but I really hate sudden team dinners. Maybe the year after next, we can finally go all out and have some fun. For now, we need to focus on the company’s future.” Then, sensing how it might sound, he added with a laugh, “Saying it out loud makes me sound like some kind of tyrant boss. We’re working by choice, I swear.”
Kim Ah Young, however, pushed back playfully: “You're the only one who's a tyrant. I’m just an employee doing my best and following orders.”
Park Jung Min clarified, “She means I seem like a tyrant boss,” to which Kim Ah Young responded, “Well… yes. Can you really deny it?”
Cornered, Park Jung Min finally conceded with a grin, “Just help me hang in there a little longer. Everything will be fine soon. If you say things like that, I'll get malicious comments,” prompting laughter on set.
Meanwhile, Park Jung Min recently drew attention for his performance as the “ex-boyfriend” character on singer Hwasa’s “Good Goodbye” stage at the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards on November 19, held at KBS Hall in Yeouido.
