Actress Myung Se Bin revealed that she had endured severe financial difficulties following her divorce, to the point of struggling to pay her credit card bills.
On November 24, tvN released a pre-broadcast clip on YouTube from the variety program 'You Quiz on the Block,' featuring Myung Se Bin. At the time, she was gaining attention for her role as Park Ha Jin, the wife of Kim Nak Soo (played by Ryu Seung Ryong), in the JTBC weekend drama 'The Dream Life of Mr. Kim.'
In the show, Myung Se Bin portrayed a long-time housewife. She candidly shared, “I had to act as a woman who' been married for many years, but I don’t have much experience with that…” drawing laughter as she referenced her own divorce experience. She had married a lawyer eleven years her senior in 2007, only to divorce five months later.

Reflecting on the hardships that followed, she admitted, “There were times I couldn’t even pay my credit card bills, so I thought about what I could sell. I sold handbags and other belongings. I was really desperate.” She also revealed that she began learning floral arrangement during this period, partly because she feared that her acting career might stall.
Myung Se Bin recalled working part-time decorating flowers at wedding halls, where she faced dismissive treatment, being told to work “in the corner” or “out of sight,” which left lasting emotional scars.
The drama 'The Dream Life of Mr. Kim' portrays the anxieties of Kim Nak Soo, a 50-year-old corporate manager struggling in his career, with a tone of black comedy. Its 10th episode, broadcast on November 23, recorded a viewership rating of 5.4%.
In addition to her personal reflections, the pre-released clip included Ryu Seung Ryong’s reaction to her casting, noting his surprise and admiration: “When I heard Myung Se Bin would participate, I was amazed, thinking, ‘Really, she’s doing it?’”
Meanwhile, Myung Se Bin made her debut in 1998 and is best known for her appearances in 'Doctor Cha,' 'Bossam: Steal the Fate,' 'First Love Again,' and 'Missing Crown Prince.' She is currently appearing on the drama ' The Dream Life of Mr. Kim,' which airs Saturday and Sunday on JTBC at 10:30 PM KST.
