Ahead of their comeback, ILLIT has set a new record on the global music streaming platform Spotify.
According to Spotify, on November 14, ILLIT's first mini-album 'Super Real Me' title track "Magnetic" reached 701,797,970 streams as of November 12. This marks the fastest time a K-pop group’s debut track has reached 700 million streams on Spotify.
Released in March last year, "Magnetic" likens the feelings of being drawn to someone you like to a magnet. The song is known for its clever lyrics, such as "Super Attraction," and its addictive melody. Its signature finger-pointing dance also sparked a global challenge craze.
The track's phenomenal popularity is reflected across multiple metrics. "Magnetic" topped major domestic music charts and became the first K-pop debut track to enter the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and the U.K. Official Singles Top 100 in record time. Its long-lasting appeal also secured it top rankings on various global year-end charts last year among K-pop songs. Even after more than a year and seven months since its release, “Magnetic” continues to chart domestically, maintaining steady love from fans.
ILLIT has also produced four songs over 100 million streams on Spotify, including “Magnetic,” “Lucky Girl Syndrome,” “Cherish,” and “Tick-Tack.” The combined cumulative streams of all their released tracks on Spotify now exceed 1.9 billion.
Meanwhile, ILLIT will release their first single album 'Not Cute Anymore' on November 24. The title track, which shares the album’s name, expresses the artist’s desire to show more than just a cute image. Ahead of the comeback, they released a series of concept photos showcasing a kitschy and wild style, breaking away from their previous image and heightening anticipation.
