ADOR has announced that it will take legal action to protect the rights and interests of NewJeans.
On the 17th, the agency stated through its official social media channels, “Since NewJeans’ debut, we have continuously monitored domestic and international online communities, music platforms, and SNS channels.”
The agency added, “We are requesting swift removal of posts that infringe upon the artists’ rights and are taking strict legal measures. We are also responding firmly to overseas-based platforms without exception.”
ADOR explained that malicious fake news, invasions of privacy, insults, and derogatory expressions targeting NewJeans have recently intensified. As a result, the agency warned that it plans to file criminal complaints against those who post malicious content on major online platforms including Naver News, DC Inside, Instiz, Nate Pann, MLB Park, and Theqoo.
Regarding deepfake crimes, ADOR emphasized an even stronger stance, saying, “Recently, perpetrators involved in deepfake cases requested settlements, but we rejected them and communicated our intention for strict punishment to investigative authorities.”
The agency continued, “We are always grateful for the love and dedication of our fans, and we will continue to make every effort to protect our artists’ rights.”
Earlier, all five members of NewJeans chose not to appeal the first trial ruling in the “exclusive contract validity lawsuit,” which they lost on the 14th. As a result, the first trial decision affirming the validity of their exclusive contracts with ADOR has been finalized.
Among the NewJeans members, Hyein and Haerin formally announced their return to ADOR through the agency on the 12th. Minji, Danielle, and Hanni also expressed their intention to return the same day, though on a slightly delayed schedule. ADOR stated that it is currently “coordinating individual meetings” with them.
