Former Wonder Girls member Yubin recently opened up about her past relationship with Girls' Generation’s Seohyun, revealing why the two couldn’t become close during their peak idol days.
On October 18, a new episode titled '2nd Gen Queens: Wonder Girls vs Girls’ Generation | Yubin's Spotlight EP14. Seohyun' was uploaded to Yubin’s YouTube channel, Yubin’s Spotlight.
During the episode, Seohyun, who appeared as a guest, shared, “We see each other quite often these days, but it’s been a long time since we’ve been on a show together. I think the last time was right after our group promotions at an awards ceremony.”
In response, Yubin confessed, “Actually, I have something to admit. Among the Girls’ Generation members, Seohyun has always been my favorite. Even when your group debuted before us, I really liked Seohyun. I admired how the youngest member always tried to live diligently and do the right thing.”
Seohyun agreed, saying, “I also wanted to become close to you back then, but we were both so busy. We even used separate waiting rooms, so we rarely had a chance to run into each other.”
Yubin added with a laugh, “Our companies even tried to avoid overlapping comebacks. I don’t know if it was out of professional courtesy, but we would intentionally make our comebacks slightly apart.”
Both stars reminisced, saying, “We were total rivals back then.” Yubin reflected, “Neither of us personally felt that way, but it somehow felt like we weren’t supposed to become friends,” expressing her regret over the situation.
Despite their past as industry “rivals,” the two shared warm laughter and mutual respect throughout the episode, showing that their friendship has grown stronger over time.
