Sung Hoon, former member of Brown Eyed Soul, has spoken out strongly in response to a recent official statement issued by the group’s agency, Longplay Music, regarding his past revelations.
On October 7th KST, Sung Hoon wrote on his personal social media, “Yes, I’ve read the Longplay statement carefully. Please clearly state what personal attacks I supposedly made. I’ve endured so much over the past 20 years. If this is how you want to proceed, I’ll also take every possible legal measure.” He continued, “You portray me as mentally unstable after all those years of perseverance we shared—so I’ll fight to the end to protect my dignity. From now on, I will only speak based on verifiable facts.”
Sung Hoon previously claimed that his departure from the group in 2023 was not voluntary. “The CEO suddenly showed up at my home and demanded that I stamp a termination agreement. I was in complete shock. I told him I needed time to think and sent him away. The next day, after much deliberation, we agreed to part ways under the condition that there would be no media manipulation.” He emphasized, “Let me make it clear—it wasn’t my choice to leave. I truly wanted to protect the group until the very end.”
In response, Longplay Music stated via their official social media on October 7th, “Several claims made in Sung Hoon’s recent social media post do not reflect the truth.” The agency explained, “During the pandemic and amidst health issues among the members, Sung Hoon experienced psychological difficulties and underwent professional counseling and treatment. During this period, he sent personally offensive messages to other members and their families, which became a serious concern. We repeatedly recommended he take rest and focus on recovery.”
The company added, “Despite these challenges, we respected Sung Hoon’s desire to continue music activities and did our best to support his solo projects, including album production and YouTube content. However, as circumstances remained unchanged for over a year, we ultimately decided—after extensive discussions—to terminate his exclusive contract and his membership in the group.”
Longplay Music further noted, “Initially, we had no intention of making a public response or engaging in media discourse. However, as misinformation continues to spread and misunderstandings grow, we felt compelled to clarify the facts.” The company warned, “While we genuinely hope for Sung Hoon’s well-being as a longtime colleague, if any further false claims cause harm to our company or artists, we will take strong legal action, including defamation lawsuits.”
