It has been belatedly reported that rapper ksmartboi under Swings' label has served time for marijuana use.
According to News Daily on October 29, ksmartboi (Kim Sang Min, age 21), signed under Indigo Music, the company founded by rapper Swings, was indicted in September last year on charges of smoking marijuana with an acquaintance. Kim and a female acquaintance, Ji (age 21), were caught smoking in a parking lot in Seoul in May, and they were charged under the Narcotics Control Act.
Three months later, on December 1, the Seoul Eastern District Court's Criminal Division 3, presided over by Judge Lee Ho Dong, sentenced Kim to eight months in prison and ordered him to be taken into custody. Ji, who was also indicted, received the same sentence and was similarly detained.
The judge stated, "Despite having a prior record of receiving a suspended indictment for similar offenses, the defendants committed the crime again. Committing the act in a public place reflects on their poor character."
Kim Sang Min was subsequently held at the Seoul Eastern Detention Center and filed an appeal while serving his sentence. In April this year, the Seoul High Court's 1-1 Criminal Division, led by Chief Judge Maeng Hyun Moo, overturned the original ruling, granting both Kim and Ji an eight-month prison sentence with a two-year probation.
The court explained the reduced sentence by noting, "The defendants have shown remorse, and given their young age of 21, there is room for future rehabilitation." Following the appeal, both Kim and Ji were released. Neither Kim nor the prosecution appealed to the Supreme Court, finalizing the sentence.
Meanwhile, in August, Kim Sang Min returned to social media as ksmartboi and shared on his Instagram that he had applied to participate in Mnet's 'Show Me The Money 12.' The official broadcast date for the show has not yet been announced.
