The feud between SM Entertainment and EXO's CBX (Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin or ChenBaekXi) continues to intensify as both sides are releasing statements regarding their stance.
On October 29, SM Entertainment released an official statement, saying, “We clearly explained to the three members that the settlement of the dispute and the team’s activities were separate issues.” SM continued, “Regarding the resolution of disputes, our company has prevailed in all previous legal proceedings. The only thing we asked from the three members was the payment of 10% of their individual activity revenues, as stipulated in the original agreement dated June 18, 2023. However, this has not yet been fulfilled.”
The company added, “Given the numerous disputes that have seriously damaged mutual trust and caused harm to EXO as a group—as well as pain to fans and members—it is only natural that the three fulfill the existing agreement and make sincere efforts to restore trust before participating in team activities.” The agency also criticized CBX for distorting facts and stated, "Although the three members stated that they had clearly expressed their intention to settle after accepting all of our proposed conditions following the second mediation session on October 2, they actually filed an objection on October 16. We deeply regret that today’s announcement by the three members distorted these facts.”
This came after CBX’s agency INB100 released its own statement, addressing the trio’s exclusion from EXO’s upcoming full-group activities. INB100 claimed that ChenBaekXi had “accepted all conditions presented by SM” and was “doing everything possible to make EXO’s complete activities happen.” INB100 stated, “INB100 and our artists Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin promised fans that they would participate in EXO’s full-group activities and have been doing everything possible to keep that promise.”
With the ongoing feud and updates from both sides, netizens have further gathered their attention to this issue and also discussed this issue in popular online communities. Many Korean netizens are also losing trust in EXO's CBX and heavily criticizing their actions. Fans are also expressing anger toward CBX and commented:
