On October 30, The Fact reported that actress Jun Ji Hyun recently filmed a new episode for Hong Jin Kyung’s YouTube channel, Study King True Genius Hong Jin Kyung. Known for rarely appearing on broadcasts outside of her film and drama work, Jun Ji Hyun’s appearance on the platform has drawn significant attention.
According to sources, Jun Ji Hyun agreed to appear because of her longstanding friendship with Hong Jin Kyung. The two previously worked together in Jun Ji Hyun’s 2014 SBS drama 'My Love from the Star,' where Hong played Jun’s friend, Hong. They collaborated again in a cameo role in the 2016 drama 'The Legend of the Blue Sea.' Fans are eagerly anticipating the chemistry and synergy of the two stars in this upcoming episode.
Jun Ji Hyun briefly appeared on actress Lee Mi Suk’s YouTube channel in September. However, that appearance was incidental as it was filmed during Lee Mi Suk’s attendance at a press event for the Disney+ drama 'Tempest.' Her appearance on Study King True Genius Hong Jin Kyung marks her first official role as a guest on a YouTube show.
Launched in 2021, Study King True Genius Hong Jin Kyung has over 1.76 million subscribers. The channel has featured top stars such as BLACKPINK’s Jennie, actresses Go So Young and Lee Young Ae, and public figures including President Lee Jae Myung, offering viewers a wide range of stories and insights. The release date for Jun Ji Hyun’s episode has not yet been announced.
Jun Ji Hyun debuted in 1997 and has starred in many beloved films and dramas including 'Il Mare,' 'My Sassy Girl,' 'The Thieves,' 'The Berlin File,' 'Assassination,' 'Happy Together,' 'My Love from the Star,' 'The Legend of the Blue Sea,' 'Kingdom: Ashin of the North,' 'Mount Jiri,' and 'Tempest.'
'In Tempest,' released in September, she played Moon Joo, who investigates the forces behind an attack on a presidential candidate. Jun Ji Hyun is also set to appear in Yeon Sang Ho’s upcoming film 'Colony,' scheduled for release next year.
