On September 9, it was announced that J.Y. Park will become the co-chair of the Presidential Commission on Pop Culture Exchange, a new body tasked with promoting cultural exchange and global engagement in popular culture.

Kang Hoon Sik, Chief of Staff at the Presidential Office, briefed reporters at Yongsan, unveiling the appointments, and said, "This commission will help people around the world enjoy Korean pop culture more widely, while allowing Koreans to embrace diverse global cultures, ultimately strengthening Korea’s identity as a cultural hub."

J.Y. Park also personally shared his thoughts on social media and wrote, "As you may have seen in the news, I have been appointed to serve at the Presidential Committee on Popular Culture Exchange, a newly established body under the President’s direct authority."

He added, "Taking on a government role is a tremendous responsibility, and as someone from the entertainment industry, I hesitated for a long time due to the many challenges and concerns it entails. However, I ultimately decided to accept this position because I believe that K-pop is now facing a truly unique opportunity, one that must be seized and nurtured."

Following the announcement, Korean netizens shared a variety of reactions online on different platforms. They commented:

"But honestly, aside from J.Y. Park, I can’t think of anyone else. Seems like the best choice."
"I mean, you can’t appoint Bang Si Hyuk, who’s currently tied up in embezzlement and lawsuits, lol."
"Why does an organization like this even need to exist in the first place?"
"Yeah… what’s the point of this?"
"He’s definitely smart, so he’ll probably do well. Hope it creates good synergy."
"Still, among the big entertainment CEOs, he seems like the most educated and normal."
"I’m not a fan of JYP, but there’s really no one else among the other companies."
"JYP does have more overseas popularity than SM."
"Funny how he has such a good image. That’s a joke lol. Even though he’s into weird religious stuff, he’s still considered 'righteous'."
"Feels like he was picked simply because he has no criminal record… guess there were no better options."
"Good, good. He seems sincere and mission-driven."
"Fighting. He’s still releasing music, started as a singer in the ’90s, became a company CEO, and never got caught up in crime. Seems like the best option. I’ll support him."
"Better Park Jin Young than Bang-whatever."
"Aside from the cult controversy, he’s the cleanest among the Big 4 CEOs…"
"Rather than the 'clean' image, I think the biggest strength is that he’s the only current active singer among major agency heads. Still not sure what this organization is even for, though."
"I mean, he did work hard, having Wonder Girls go to the U.S.market. If you look at the results like TWICE and Stray Kids, I think J.Y. Park is perfect for the role."
"He is the best choice, to be honest."
