SUNMI opens up about her dating life and past with J.Y.Park on ‘Salon Drip 2’
On September 2nd KST, a new episode of the YouTube channel ‘TEO’’s talk show ‘Salon Drip 2’ featured DAY6 members Sungjin and Wonpil as guests. At the end of the episode, a teaser preview for next week revealed SUNMI’s appearance, drawing keen attention.
Host Jang Do Yeon asked SUNMI, “When it comes to making music, are you the type who needs a major breakup to write a hit? Would you go through a breakup just to create a great song?”
With a sigh, SUNMI responded, “Well, first I need to actually be in a relationship. But I really can’t stand the talking stage. Why do people play games?”
Jang Do Yeon, nodding in agreement, added, “Exactly. I wish people would just get to the point. Are we dating or not? If not, then move on.”
She then brought up a well-known story that J.Y.Park once shared on MBC’s ‘Radio Star’, saying, “He famously said he was worried about SUNMI.”
In the past, J.Y.Park revealed: “SUNMI lost her father at a young age and, as the eldest daughter, took care of her younger siblings. I once saw those emotions directed toward a guy. That’s when I said I wouldn’t see her anymore. I knew the guy and I could tell she was drawn to him out of maternal instinct. It frustrated me, so I distanced myself for a while. But she’s not like that anymore, so I don’t worry about her now.”
Addressing that remark, SUNMI clarified, “I’ve been meaning to explain that. It really happened just once. That was my very first relationship, and it ended with that one person.”
When asked what kind of person she’s attracted to, SUNMI gestured with her hands to describe a face shape and simply said, “I’m drawn to a certain type of face. Shoop, shoop.”
Jang Do Yeon quickly chimed in with a joke: “Wait—shoop, shoop? J.Y.Park?” sparking laughter on set.
