Kang Daniel's sold-out concert in New Jersey cancelled on the spot.
On an online forum, netizens discussed and reacted to an unexpected incident at Kang Daniel's solo US tour stop in New Jersey on September 6. After fans had already entered the venue and taken their seats, a staff member stepped on stage and announced that the concert was cancelled due to "unforeseen issues" related to the "local system and production."
The staff, speaking on behalf of the local production management, apologized to the audience and asked for their understanding. Kang Daniel himself then came on stage to apologize in person, telling fans he "still wanted to come out and see [the fans]" and to thank them. As he exited, fans shouted that it "isn't his fault" and expressed their support and love.
According to further accounts shared online, Kang Daniel was fully prepared and in good condition to perform that day. The cancellation, they noted, stemmed from issues with the local organizer. Netizens also pointed out that "there is no issue with his visa" since he continues performing at shows in other US states without problems.
Some criticized the company for packing the tour schedule too tightly, suggesting that this forced Kang Daniel's team to rehearse on the same day as the concert instead of the day before, leaving no time to prevent or resolve such unforeseen problems in advance.
"The artist was in good condition, wanted to perform, and even apologized. Tickets were sold out, preparations were complete, but the show was canceled due to a system issue. It wasn’t a visa problem since they performed normally in another U.S. state the day before. The issue was simply with the local organizer."
"But what about the fans who traveled all the way there... They should be compensated."
"This is clearly the company’s faultㅠ it’s a bit much."
"Crazy..."
"Ah, what are they going to do..."
"Hul"
"These days even U.S. K-pop fans are struggling financially, and for the locals who attended, the travel costs must have been brutal. They must be furious. I hope compensation is handled more sincerely..."
"In reality, only ticket refunds are given. Travel and lodging costs aren’t covered at all..."
"They must have realized during rehearsal on the day of the concert that it couldn’t go on. That’s why tours shouldn’t be scheduled so tightly—there should at least be a chance to rehearse the day before."
"Hul, canceled on the spot on the day???"
"There was another show in a different city the day before, and the cancellation notice was only posted right before soundcheck on the day of. They must have discovered the issue during rehearsal and tried to fix it."
"Why blame the artist? If anything, blame the agency or the local organizer. Some people just want to criticize the singer."
"Both the fans and the artist seem to be victims here."
"Why are people talking like the artist signed the contract themselves? It was company-to-company. There was even an article saying the company appealed because the whole thing was absurd. If the contract was between companies, then targeting the artist makes no sense."
"If they had rehearsed even the day before, this kind of cancellation probably wouldn’t have happened—even if it was on the same morning."
"Kang Daniel even came out to apologize personally. It’s really heartbreaking for both the artist and the fans. Sigh."
