Choi Woo Sik and Jung So Min are set to show their onscreen chemistry as a fake married couple in the upcoming drama.
SBS has unveiled the script reading for its upcoming Friday-Saturday drama 'Would You Marry Me,' on September 2. The series tells the story of a man and woman who enter into a 90-day contract marriage in order to secure a luxury newlywed home.
Choi Woo Sik plays Kim Woo Joo, the fourth-generation heir of Korea's first bakery, Myungsundang. At the reading, he greeted the team, saying, "I hope we can stay happy and finish filming well. I'll do my best."
Jung So Min takes on the role of Yoo Mary, a struggling designer who proposes a fake marriage with Kim Woo Joo in order to win the coveted home. She shared, "I hope no one gets hurt and that we finish the filming safely until the very end."
Together, Choi Woo Sik and Jung So Min will portray a pretend newlywed couple. Choi Woo Sik will transform into an heir of one of the biggest bakery companies, showing off the charisma of a well-rounded successor. Jung So Mi will bring to life a lovable yet relatable bride-to-be pushed to the edge, heightening anticipation with her charming performance.
The drama has garnered attention ahead of its premiere, as it brings together two of the most beloved actors. Choi Woo Shik has impressed audiences with films like 'Parasite' and dramas such as 'A Killer Paradox.' In particular, he earned praise in SBS’s 'Our Beloved Summer' for his realistic romance that evoked memories of youth. Jung So Min has showcased her range through works like 'Love Next Door' and 'Alchemy of Souls.' Her role in 'Love Next Door,' where she depicted a sweet romance with a longtime male friend, further solidified her reputation as a leading rom-com actress.
The supporting cast also adds excitement with Bae Na Ra as Baek Sang Hyun, a department store executive keeping watch over Woo Joo and Mary; Shin Seul Gi as Yoon Jin Kyung, Woo Joo’s soulmate and a family medicine doctor; Seo Bum Joon as Mary’s ex-fiancé and another man named Kim Woo Joo; Jung Ae Ri as Go Pil Nyeon, Woo Joo’s grandmother and chairwoman of Myungsundang; Kim Young Min as Jang Han Gu, Woo Joo’s uncle and company director; Baek Ji Won as Kim Mi Yeon, Woo Joo’s aunt; and Yoon Bok In as Oh Young Sook, Mary’s mother. Each actor brought their character to life, making the script reading session vibrant.
The production team shared, "Please look forward to the sweet, thrilling, and nerve-wracking chemistry of Woo Joo and Mary as they go through 90 days of a fake newlywed life to protect their prize home," raising expectations for the synergy between rom-com veterans Choi Woo Shik and Jung So Min.
'Would You Marry Me' is set to premiere this October.
