It has been two days since Song Da Eun released a video of BTS's Jimin on an elevator, which caused a major stir. Yet, BigHit Music, Jimin’s agency, has still not released an official statement.
Recently, Song Da Eun uploaded a short video featuring Jimin’s face on her TikTok account. In the clip, Song is seen opening her apartment door and waiting for Jimin at the elevator. When the doors open, she surprises him, and Jimin responds affectionately, saying, “Ah, you startled me. Did you know I was coming in? I didn’t tell you on purpose.”
Not only their actions and conversation, but also the fact that the video was filmed at Nine One Hannam, the luxury apartment complex in Hannam-dong, Yongsan, where Jimin resides, led many netizens to believe the two are in a relationship.
In fact, suspicions surrounding the pair's dating have been circulating since 2022. Song Da Eun was spotted wearing official BTS merchandise and even revealed the couple's items engraved with “DA EUN” and “ji min,” fueling fan speculation at the time. Still, BigHit Music remained silent.
What makes this video different is that it wasn’t uploaded by mistake. Song Da Eun has long complained of malicious comments from some Jimin fans. In a livestream this past June, she broke down in tears, saying, "Just because the idol you like loves me, that doesn’t mean I deserve to be cursed at. It’s not like I seduced him first. So stop attacking me, okay? You don’t know what I’ll do if I get pushed too far. You always say I’ll be sued? No, you’ll be the ones sued, got it?"
Because of this, many see the release of the latest elevator video as a deliberate counterattack after years of harassment and emotional pain.
Public opinion is sharply divided. Some argue, “Revealing someone’s home and face without their consent is an invasion of privacy.” Others sympathize, saying, “She has endured years of hate comments, so it’s understandable.”
Moreover, with dating rumors persisting for years and now what appears to be direct video evidence, many are demanding that BigHit Music break its silence and give an official stance, whatever it may be.
Netizens are continuing to wonder why Jimin's side remains silent and commented:
"Honestly, this is annoying."
"If they had broken up, they would've said so. I didn't even know they dated that long. I hope they just get married."
"Why can't you say it? Why can't you say that this is my woman, that this is the woman I love?"
"That’s something you shouldn’t do to fans OR your girlfriend."
"For real, he is the worst."
"Why can’t he say anything?"
"This is right… Aside from the crazy, obsessive fans, there must be plenty of fans who’ve been quietly supporting all this time. For their sake at least, he should make a statement. After saying 'thanks to the fans' all this time, now to go completely silent—what does that make his girlfriend or his fans? Honestly, I’m seeing Jimin in a different light after this."
"All this does is breed more obsessive/crazy fans."
"No, but seriously, at least release a statement. What are you even doing?"
"This is really bad."
"He can’t say anything because they’re still dating. If they had broken up, the news would’ve been plastered everywhere with 'they’re not together anymore.' Why torment people for years like this?"
"I want to know too. What the hell are you doing..?"
"Everyone can see they’re dating, but since he doesn’t officially deny it, it just means they’re still together. Because he doesn’t make it official, fans keep freaking out, lol. He’s the root cause of his girlfriend being harassed, so why doesn’t he step up and clear things?"
"I feel sorry for his girlfriend."
"You may not care, but it’s been brought up for 6 years, and as long as the girlfriend keeps getting hurt, he should release a statement."
"And normal fans don’t like their idol being constantly mentioned in these things. Better to release a statement and end it quickly."
"I don’t know… if the girlfriend is struggling that badly, wouldn’t it be better to help her financially with legal action and mental health treatment?"
"This is way too big now to just say 'I don’t care.' And anyway, he was part of the relationship too, so how can he just sit it out?"
"Don’t hide behind the company. If a man in his 30s is this avoidant, that’s a dealbreaker."
"It’d be less stressful if there was just an article saying they’re getting married."
