Earlier this week, MBC's new Fri-Sat drama 'To The Moon' launched its first teaser starring Lee Sun Bin, Ra Mi Ran, Jo Ah Ram, and Kim Young Dae.
The teaser, a parody of a popular Korean ice cream CF from the 1980s~1990s, portrayed Kim Young Dae as Aladin and the three women as genies. All four actors then proceeded to dance funnily to the music, depicting a rather outdated vision of South Asian culture.

Soon after the teaser's launch, many netizens pointed fingers of criticism toward its inappropriate mockery of another culture. In particular, many global netizens of South Asian backgrounds responded with anger and disappointment over MBC's disrespectful production decision.
Once the issue became a major buzz on various SNS platforms, MBC took down the teaser, although the broadcasting station has yet to issue a formal statement.
Meanwhile, 'To The Moon' tells the story of three ordinary women who begin to take an interest in coin investment.
