Koyote have proven their staying power once again, dominating music charts immediately upon their return. On Aug. 6 at 6 p.m. KST, the long-running co-ed group released their new single ‘Call Me’ across major streaming platforms. Within hours, the track hit No. 1 on Kakao Music’s real-time chart (as of Aug. 6, 10 p.m.), topped Genie’s latest release chart (1-week), and claimed No. 2 on Kakao Music’s daily TOP100 (as of Aug. 8, 9 a.m.). It also reached No. 7 on Melon’s HOT100 (within 30 days of release), No. 32 on HOT100 (within 100 days), and No. 85 on Bugs’ real-time chart (as of Aug. 7, 9 a.m.), winning over listeners across generations.

The track is built on RE-DM, a hybrid genre combining retro and EDM. It features Koyote’s signature minor-key melodies and an addictive “Call Me” hook. Notably, the song reunites the group with composer Choi Jun-young — behind past hits like ‘Pure Love’ and ‘Broken Heart’ — after 27 years, resulting in a seamless blend of 90s sentiment and contemporary production.

For Koyote, this release carries weight beyond a standard comeback. Among co-ed groups who rose to fame in the 90s and early 2000s, they are essentially the only act still active today. As Korea’s longest-running mixed-gender group, they have continued to release new music — including ‘GO’, ‘Hero’, ‘Half’, ‘Wind’, and ‘Four Seasons’ — under JG Star, staying true to their identity as makers of dance tracks “everyone can sing along to.”

Ahead of the release, the members appeared on variety programs such as tvN’s ‘You Quiz on the Block’ and MBC’s ‘The Manager’, previewing ‘Call Me’ and building excitement. Fans have responded enthusiastically, leaving comments like “This is classic Koyote,” “Only Koyote could pull this off,” and “A must-have for karaoke.”

On Aug. 8, Koyote performed ‘Call Me’ for the first time on KBS2’s ‘Music Bank’, officially kicking off promotions. The group plans to continue spreading their cross-generational energy through music shows and a nationwide concert tour.
