Jang Yoon Jung has accepted an apology from KBS announcer Kim Jin Woong, who had described her husband Do Kyung Wan as a “sub.”
On August 24, Jang Yoon Jung wrote on Instagram: “I’m very grateful to everyone who sympathized with my previous post and comforted my upset feelings. Thank you so much. A little while ago, I received a text from an unknown number. He said he had asked around to get my contact and wanted to apologize.”
She added, “It must have taken courage to apologize, and if someone comes forward sincerely, I believe that gesture should be accepted. I won’t say more. I hope his future is filled with peace, happiness, and good fortune.”

Earlier, Jang Yoon Jung had publicly criticized Kim Jin Woong’s remarks, saying: “We are not close, and words or actions that make the other person unable to laugh cannot be disguised as ‘jokes.’ There is no such thing as a ‘sub’ in a family.” Her comments were in response to a scene from KBS2’s variety show ‘I'm the Boss, My Ears Are Donkey's Ears.’

During the episode, senior announcer Eom Ji In mentioned, “Among my male juniors, I think Do Kyung Wan married the best. He supported his wife while she toured nationwide and has been even more active on broadcasts after marriage.”
Kim Jin Woong then said, “I couldn’t live like senior Do Kyung Wan. It may sound disrespectful, but I can’t live as someone’s sub.” Eom Ji In immediately countered, “Why would Do Kyung Wan be a sub?”
Following backlash, Kim Jin Woong not only contacted the couple to apologize but also posted a public statement on Instagram the same day. He wrote: “I sincerely apologize to seniors Do Kyung Wan and Jang Yoon Jung for the careless remarks I made on today’s broadcast. I also apologize to viewers and fans who may have been made uncomfortable by them.”
He continued, “I still lack experience, and because I felt this was such a precious opportunity, my enthusiasm ran ahead of me and I failed to be careful. As a result, I said something I never should have said. Senior Do Kyung Wan, in particular, encouraged me even when I was stationed in the regions, telling me to call if I was ever hungry and always looking after his juniors. To have repaid such a warm senior with such disrespect fills me with deep regret.”
Kim Jin Woong concluded, “Through this incident I painfully realized how much harm thoughtless words can cause. I will always keep this in mind to ensure it never happens again. I sincerely apologize.”
