Comedian and musician Yoo Se Yoon has taken a bold stand against KBS by holding a silent placard protest while kneeling in front of the broadcasting station. This came after his latest song was deemed unfit for broadcast.
On July 3, Yoo posted several photos on social media with the caption, "I protested in front of KBS." The images show Yoo and several colleagues holding placards that read, "It’s okay to pause your tough life for 30 seconds." The protest quickly caught the public’s attention.
The controversy began when KBS’s review board announced that Yoo's new song "My Rhythm Breaks" would not be allowed on air. The decision was based on concerns over the lyrics, especially the line, "My eyes grope, grope, grope your body," which the board deemed too suggestive. They also pointed out that the song's intentional rhythm breaks and pauses could potentially confuse listeners.
In response, Yoo Se Yoon staged the protest to explain the true purpose of the song. His message emphasized that taking a brief pause in a difficult life is not only acceptable but necessary. The placards reflected this sentiment, countering the review board’s interpretation.
A representative for Yoo Se Yoon stated that there are no plans to revise the song to meet KBS’s broadcast standards.
