Soyou says she told her agency she would to retire if SISTAR disbanded

Soyou expressed her deep affection for SISTAR while also making a candid confession over the fear of the group disbanding.

On July 20, Soyou appeared as a special guest on Umaizing Uhm Jung Hwa TV and shared some tips on her workout routine, while talking about her career. In the video, Soyou gave an update on her life and shared, "I lost 10 kgs (22lbs)," adding, "I think I'm even slimmer now than I was during SISTER days."

Soyou impressed Uhm Jung Hwa, showcasing her healthy and fit physique by doing glute-focused workouts with a trainer. Uhm Jung Hwa joined her for the day, and Soyou even promoted her new song.

After the workout, the two sat down for a mukbang, where they shared a deep conversation about life. During the talk, Uhm Jung Hwa asked, "Do you guys meet up often as a group?" to which Soyou replied, "Until last year, we met fairly often, but this year I've only seen Bora unnie."

Soyou then candidly shared, "It felt like without SISTAR, I didn't exist either," and added, "When my agency brought up contract discussions, I said, 'If SISTAR disbands, I'll retire. '" While reflecting on her time with the group, Soyou also shared, "That was my youth. SISTAR was everything in my 20s. Without SISTAR, the 'me' now wouldn't exist," expressing her affection for the group.

Meanwhile, Soyou debuted in 2010 as a member of SISTAR and gained massive popularity with hits such as "So Cool," "Push Push," "Give It To Me," "Touch My Body," and "SHAKE IT." The group solidified their positions as the summer hit group, dubbed the "Summer Queens" of the K-pop scene. 

However, SISTAR disbanded in 2017, with each member pursuing their own paths as solo artists or actresses. Soyou continues her career as a soloist and released the digital single "PDA" on July 16.
