Singer Moon Won, the fiancé of Koyote’s Shinji, has recently found himself embroiled in a misunderstanding involving a transgender influencer’s direct message (DM). Although the situation was ultimately clarified as a misunderstanding, it has once again caused unnecessary distress and sparked false rumors.
Transgender BJ (broadcast jockey) Ggojja addressed the issue during a personal livestream on July 16, stating, “It’s true that the fiancé and the transgender woman Sera have known each other for a long time, but not since her gender transition. He had no idea that Sera was previously gay or had transitioned.”
The controversy began on a July 11 livestream, when a viewer asked Sera, who appeared as a guest, “How did you end up following each other with the fiancé?” Sera responded, seemingly confused, “Who’s that?” After checking her phone, she confirmed that they were indeed following each other.
As Ggojja checked the DMs on Sera’s phone during the broadcast, she appeared visibly flustered. Sera also looked shocked after reviewing the messages. When viewers jokingly asked, “Would you reveal the DMs for 100 million KRW (about $71,000)?” Sera initially replied, “That’s not possible.” But when someone raised the offer to 1 billion KRW, she responded, “Then maybe. For 500 million (about $359,000), I could even share KakaoTalk messages.”
Addressing the broadcast's aftermath, Ggojja admitted, “Some of the remarks made during the stream may have caused misunderstanding. But after checking, there was nothing problematic in the messages. The two have simply known each other since Sera’s trot music days, back when she was still male. It’s just an older brother–younger sister-type friendship.”
She continued, “The fiancé didn’t even realize Sera was transgender. When he saw her social media, he asked, ‘Did my girlfriend play a prank on me?’ That’s how unaware he was. Maybe he unfollowed her out of confusion, but there’s absolutely nothing inappropriate between them. Even though this situation escalated to the point of articles using my photo, it’s really nothing serious. Please don’t over-interpret it.”
Meanwhile, Shinji and her fiancé are scheduled to marry next year. Shinji recently appeared on tvN’s 'You Quiz on the Block' (aired July 16) and became emotional as she recalled the emotional toll of past misunderstandings and rumors involving her fiancé.
